CFP: Deadline 31st of January – the Business History of Creativity

European Business History Asocciation Annual Congress, Rotterdam (NL), 29-31 August, 2019.

Ever since the 1990s, the creative industries have been a topic of both praise and contention. The 2019 EBHA conference, themed around The Business History of Creativity intends to address creativity in business and the growth and development of the creative industries.

Keynote speakers are:

Joel Mokyr, professor of economics and history at Northwestern University, who is well known for his work on technological creativity and economic progress. His impressive research output include The gifts of athena: Historical origins of the knowledge economy (2011) and A Culture of Growth: The Origins of the Modern Economy (2016).

and Vicky Broackes, senior curator at the Victoria & Albert Museum, who was responsible for internationally acclaimed exhibitions such as David Bowie Is (which ran from 2013 and 2018 in 12 different countries) and You say you want a revolution? Records and Rebels 1966-1970(2016).

We are looking forward to an interesting exchange of ideas on creativity within businesses and business history. We especially welcome papers, sessions and workshops with multi- and interdisciplinary approaches to the conference theme.
